Beautiful Couple, Beautiful Location!

We had all the makings for the perfect engagement session last Thursday in Laguna Beach, CA. If I could shoot every single session on that beach, I would! Divine is the word I would use to describe both the location and the couple (who was very, very sweet, by the way). I hope they love their photos as much as I do! (Am I allowed to say that?!)

First Birthday Cake Smash with Big Boy, M! ----- Kara Baker Massachusetts Family Portrait Photographer

I had the pleasure of shooting baby (or maybe I should say "big boy"), M's first birthday cake smash! A cake smash is seemingly becoming more and more common. It is a chance for the one year old to enjoy their very own birthday cake; to smash, shmear, eat, dance in, sit on-- whatever! People were starting to get two cakes for the first birthday party; one for the guests to eat, and one for the birthday boy or girl. Now, it is even common for a third cake to be purchased simply for the "smash the cake" session with your photographer. It's a lot of fun and you really do end up with some cute photos!

KBP's Kick Off to Christmas- Giveaway Day 9!

We're almost there, folks. On to Day 9! And to me, this is a very, very special giveaway.

My mother wanted to contribute something to my giveaway and she is one of the most crafty people I know. I've been after her to start her own Etsy store because I know she could make some spending money for herself, but with a full time job, and a full time grandson ---- ;)------ she just doesn't have the time to commit.

Up for the winning today is a hand sewn, fleece hat and mittens set. I have to tell you, she made Eliot a couple of sets last year for Winter and I have never gotten more compliments or comments on ANYTHING in my life! People LOVE these hats! (And with good reason-- they are simply adorable!). These hats are "toddler' size and fit heads approximately 18-36 months.

Despite some technical flaws, the above photos is still one of my absolute favorites of Eliot. It is proudly displayed on our walls at home (flaws and all).
