Family Session; West Boylston, MA

The rain has stopped just briefly enough this May for me to photograph my clients... and then it starts again. But that's OK with me. Rain dates just make me crazy so I am glad I haven't had to make one yet! Thank you, Mother Nature!

This past weekend, I ventured out to West Boylston, MA. It's actually the second time I've been there (2 different clients). Small world. West Boylston is a town in Massachusetts that I've never even heard of until last year.

I'd met this family briefly while doing my Christmas Mini Sessions last November, but this gave us more time (and more space) to play around with. Here are my favorites from the session in their beautiful yard and home:

Cloudy Day Family Session {Kara Baker; Woburn, MA Photographer}

I had a family session last Saturday that was very near and dear to me.

When I found out I was expecting my son (in January of 08), I found an 'expecting club' online with many ladies who were also due in September of 2008. After we all had our babies, we turned into an online 'playgroup.' Many of us have "known" each other for over 3 years.

Nikki and I first began our online friendship when we were both trying to complete Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. Nikki finished out the 30 days and her results were awe-inspiring! I didn't get much past week two. (Boo to me!).

Then, when I started my photography business and needed things designed, I went to Nikki for help. She has her own designing business, Inspired By An Angel Designs. She helped me so much, and even more, she put up with my nit-picky-ness better than probably anyone else would have!

Last Christmas we were both swamped; me with family Christmas Sessions, and her with many Christmas card orders. Many nights we spend online chatting while we were up to midnight or later working to get things done in a timely fashion for our clients. This is when we really realized how much we had in common. At times, it seemed eerie how alike we are!

Fast forward to last week, and Nikki and I finally got to meet face to face for the first time! Her family came out to Boston for their photo session and just to visit. It was such a pleasure both meeting her beautiful family, but also photographing them. It was a cloudy day so I shot a little earlier than I usually do. These kids gave me a work-out! I had sore legs the next day from all my squats! Here are just a few of my favorites from our session together:

Haverhill Country Club Wedding; Dave & Glendalis

The Haverhill Country Club was the perfect location for their beautiful, heart-felt, and detail-oriented wedding. We had a cooler day in April with some rain threatening to show so the ceremony was moved to inside. It didn't, however, stop us from sneaking out for a few formals during cocktail hour!v
Thank you, Dave & Glendalis for allowing KBP to capture such precious memories during such a special day in your lives.

A Sweet Little Girl (Who Loves Her Boston Teams!)- {Kara Baker Boston Area Child Photographer}

Mom came super prepared for this session with an LL Bean Bag FULL of outfit changes, food, drink & wipes! She certainly gets the most prepared award. She had a vision of what she wanted, yet at the same time she trusted me to capture her daughter's own personality. It was a tall order, but I think we had some success :)

Half Family/ Half Engagement Session- {Kara Baker, Woburn, MA Family Photographer}

I've known this bride-to-be since we were in elementary school together! She has always been so proud to be herself; unique which is one of the many things I admire about her. This past weekend I got to meet her little family; and they could not have been any sweeter. I am so happy for her!

They picked the location; a location that I have shot at before-- however, I have never shot there in the Spring time-- GORGEOUS! I'm so happy we settled on Lake Q. as our local for this session. What's also cool is that we were able to go into the cemetery and use some of that beautiful landscaping for backdrop as well.

So here are some of my favorite shots from our session together; half family/half engagement:
