LOVE, Love, Love! {Kara Baker, Massachusetts Wedding Photographer}

Love is the theme for these photos. I met this beautiful couple for the first time yesterday and am so excited to be shooting their wedding next September. The bride-to-be picked this awesome spot to have our session in her hometown of Paxton, MA. It was quite a drive for me, but SO worth it! Take a peek and I think you'll see why!

It's always exciting to me when I have an old classmate inquire about booking a session with me. It's fun to catch-up. Sure, there's Facebook, but meeting face to face after so many years (Oh My- 10 years!) is just more personal than Facebook.

What a sweet family too! Their little girl is just the essence of beauty; just gorgeous!

Baby M- (Almost) 6 Months! {Kara Baker, Boston Area Child Photographer}

I was thrilled when I got this baby in front of my camera! Not much else is better in life than an adorable (and maybe a little chunky) baby! We did most of our session inside to stay out of the 98* weather (yes, even at 7pm in the evening!). Although I love my natural light, we got some great images with my faux-studio set-up!

Baby E's Newborn Portraits {Kara Baker, Boston Area Newborn Photographer}

It was just one of those cases of perfect timing. I had shot some engagement photos early in the week, turned them around quickly, and had a referral from that session wanting a newborn session for their 3 week old baby that Friday. Usually, I book months in advance and I had had another family who wanted that time on Friday, but it didn't end up working out for them so this family got it!

I was a little nervous about trying for newborn portraits when the baby was already 3 weeks old. Usually, I try to keep it to two weeks or under. Actually, this was the oldest newborn I have ever photographed and she ended up being a dream. Who knew? Here are some of my favorites from our time together.

Finally..... "THE POSE!"

It's talked about amongst newborn (and wanna-be newborn) photographers as "The Pose."

There are youtube videos and tutorials all over the web on HOW to achieve "The Pose." Since the very beginning of my photography career, I have not attempted newborn sessions alone. I have an AMAZING assistant who accompanies me on my newborn sessions. We, together, have NEVER been able to get "The Pose"... until.... THIS PAST FRIDAY!

I couldn't believe it either!

We had a very cooperative little girl who was THREE weeks old! (Not even in my recommended first two weeks of life and she STILL let us get it!) So thank you, baby E for teaching us that with a LOT of patience and a little bit of luck, it really can be done!
