Make-Over Winner Results!

Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Deb, our winner of the Paul Kenneth Salon & Spa Make-Over Giveaway. As a mom of twin 5-year old girls, she doesn't very often get to put herself first. Paul Kenneth made sure (that at least for yesterday), that had changed.

Upon entering the salon, Deb was greeted both by a huge welcome sign and by warm and welcoming staff. She had a consultation with Jennifer to make sure that Deb was going to be more than happy with her look. Deb explained that what she wanted most (other than a fresh look) was something easy to maintain since time is such a factor for her.

I made my exit, excited to return a few hours later. I was so happy for Deb when I saw her! She had a new confidence; a new glow about her... and she looked gorgeous! Being a mom myself who does not wear make-up unless I am working, I totally 'get' that feeling and was happy to imagine what Deb was feeling.

Along with her hair, Deb got her make-up done, her nails done, and the wonderful staff at PK Salon bought her lunch! That was just the icing on the cake-- a true testament to the types of people that own and work at the salon. A manicure, nor lunch, was included in my giveaway, but they went the extra two miles to make Deb feel even more special.

Just a few of the awesome staff from PK Salon (Jennifer, Deb, Julie, & Jackie)

Without further ado, I give you Deb's before and after photos. I am so happy for her and can tell that she did absolutely did deserve to win this makeover!

Our Big Make-Over Giveaway!

So you probably have noticed that KBP has gotten a total make-over, right? I really felt that it was time for a new look and a new brand for KBP. When I first started in this business 2 years ago, I was still trying to find out who I wanted to be as an artist. (Well, I guess I will always be evolving, right?) Two years in, however, I feel like I know myself better than I ever have. I wanted to re-brand to let clients see the new me. I refreshed my brand to more accurately reflect my business style; sophisticated, professional, and all about you.

In order to celebrate this event (and it HAS been an event-- I had no idea how much goes into re-branding (although I should have had a clue since I did brand once already)) we are giving away... (you ready?).... A TOTAL MAKE-OVER from... an AWARD WINNING (TOP 200 SALONS IN THE COUNTRY among other awards!)... The PAUL KENNETH SALON!

Kara Baker Photography and The Paul Kenneth Salon are putting their heads and talents together to offer you a chance to win a complete make-over; hair cut, color, style and make-up! This is HUGE!

I (personally) stumbled across the Paul Kenneth Salon over 3 years ago, when I was pregnant with my son. My sister wanted highlights in her (dark brown) hair and I was certain I could pull it off with just a quick trip to a high-end beauty store. Hours later, we realized how wrong I was. I had tried other salons in my area in the past, and was not satisfied at all so I wasn't about to bring her there to fix what I had done. The Paul Kenneth Salon had been recommended by both friends and family; said to be like "Newbury Street in Woburn" and they could NOT have been any more right! I called and they told us to come down there that day. PAUL KENNETH HIMSELF sat down with my sister and I for a consult. I told him what I did and he told me they would fix it. He set us up with Amy (the best hair-stylist on the planet, in my humble opinion). I could not believe the results. They took an absolute mess and turned it into the best cut and color I had ever seen (not only on my sister, Emily, but maybe on anyone). I immediately made my own appointment and have been going there ever since and not once have I looked back. I couldn't believe the way we were treated (having never been there before, and having just butchered hair so badly). I have never had an experience like this before ever. The Paul Kenneth Salon is UNMATCHED in quality, customer service, and satisfaction.

To say that I feel HONORED that the PK Salon is willing to do this giant giveaway with me is an understatement!

(Sorry, Emily, but I have to do a before and after pic series so people can see how serious I am). So I don't have a photo of the disastrous mess I made of Emily's hair, but I have a general before picture and an after picture of a couple years later:

AFTER:

Do you SEE the magic I am talking about?

Ok, enough yammering, time to get to the good part; how you can win your very own make-over from PK Salon!

2) Email me at kara@karabakerphotography.com and:

a) Tell me you've liked their page
b) include a recent photo of yourself (one with hair down if you have the choice, if not that's OK too)
c) Leave me your name! (forgot about that one!)

What You will win:

A total hair transformation; cut, style, & color AND a make-up application! AND, I will be there to get your after shot to compare to your before shot. (New Facebook profile pic, anyone?!)

Entries will be accepted today (October 5th) through Wednesday October 19th. The winner will be chosen by both Jackie (Co-owner at Paul Kenneth) and myself and announced on Friday, October 21st.

If you haven't already, please check us out and LIKE us on Facebook

Family Photo Session; My Think Spring Giveaway Winners!

I finally got around to meeting the family who brought the most traffic to my Facebook page in Early April when I held my Think Spring Giveaway Photo Contest. They had posted a photo of their adorable two year old boy, A, in a swing and that photo got over 100 'likes'! When I met the family (and A) in person, I could clearly see how family and friends would want to pool together to vote for them. I have been in business for just over a year and a half now and I have photographed few families with as much personality as the M family. I thoroughly enjoyed being at their home in Boxford and felt completely welcomed and comfortable.

Sometimes it takes a few shots, some tweaking of settings, and a few different angles to get the photo you are going for and if you are feeling rushed, you can easily look past an obvious choice for settings or light. I never once felt rushed while photographing the M family. It was a dream. It didn't hurt that they had beautiful backdrops for their photos in their own yard either.

Here are some photos from our session together:
